A small test order on your own machine ## 1\. Manual or Auto Digitizing? Ask directly: "Does a person build every file, or does software convert it?" Auto-digitizing software guesses stitch direction, density and underlay. It can handle a bold, simple shape, but small text, thin outlines and gradients usually come out jagged, too dense or prone to thread breaks. A manually digitized file is built object by object for the fabric it will be stitched on. Ask for Real Sew-Out Photos A screen preview always looks clean. What matters is how the design stitches. Ask for photos of real sew-outs, ideally of designs like yours: small lettering, caps, 3D puff or large jacket backs. Look closely at small text, the edges of satin columns, and whether fills look smooth or show fabric through them. ## 3\. Turnaround and Rush Options Turnaround varies a lot between providers, from under an hour for simple logos to 24 hours or more. Check the standard time, the rush time and the rush fee, and ask what happens on weekends. Ask how many revisions are included, how long you have to request them, and whether a revision is free when the problem was in the file.
