Are the free embroidery files manually digitized?
Yes. Every file in the Sassy Digitizing free library was manually built by one of our expert digitizers in Wilcom V9 and E2 professional software. No auto-digitizing tools were used. Before any design enters the free library it passes the same quality review as a paid order: correct underlay structure, proper stitch density for the intended fabric type, and a test sew-out on a commercial machine. The free sample files represent the same production-ready standard as every custom order we deliver.
What formats are the free embroidery files available in?
Every free design includes DST and PES stitch files plus a PDF placement reference, packaged as a single ZIP download. DST works on Tajima, Barudan, Happy, Melco, and most commercial multi-head machines. PES works on all Brother and Babylock home and commercial machines. If your machine uses a different format such as JEF for Janome, VP3 for Husqvarna Viking or Pfaff, HUS for older Husqvarna, or XXX for Singer, contact us after downloading and we will convert the file to the correct format at no charge.
How do I download a free embroidery file?
Browse the free design gallery on this page and click any design to view its details including stitch count, dimensions, and available formats. Select DST or PES and enter your email address. The download link is sent to your inbox instantly. No account, password, or payment information is required. You can download multiple designs in a single session.
Can I use the free files for commercial production?
Yes. All free embroidery and vector art files from Sassy Digitizing are licensed for commercial production. You may stitch them on customer garments, uniforms, hats, and merchandise and sell the finished embroidered products. The one restriction is redistribution: the digital files themselves may not be resold, shared as downloads, or repackaged as embroidery resources without written permission from Sassy Digitizing.
What types of embroidery designs are in the free library?
The free library is built mainly around state flag and crest patches: US state flags such as Texas, New York, Colorado, Nevada, Indiana and Connecticut, plus national and sports crests. Sizes and placements are optimized for left chest, cap and jacket back use, and stitch counts range from roughly 10,000 stitches for a left chest state flag to over 150,000 for a full jacket back design. New flags and crests are added regularly.
How do I transfer a downloaded embroidery file to my machine?
After downloading, copy the file in the correct format to a USB drive or machine-specific memory card depending on your machine type. Most commercial Tajima and Barudan machines read from USB or compact flash. Brother PE and PR series machines read from USB drives. Janome machines use USB drives or built-in wireless transfer on newer models. If you are unsure, check your machine manual or contact us and we will guide you through the process.
Will more free designs be added to the library?
Yes. The free design library is updated regularly with new embroidery files and vector art samples. Check back periodically for new additions. If you need a specific design that is not currently in the library, custom orders start from $15-$25 with 2 to 4 hour standard delivery and 1 to 2 hour rush delivery at no extra cost.
Are the free files production-ready or just samples?
They are fully production-ready. These are not watermarked previews, demo stitches, or truncated samples. Every design in the free library has been digitized with proper underlay for the intended fabric, stitch density calibrated for commercial machines, and pull compensation for the placement type. Load the DST or PES file directly into your machine and it will run correctly on the first attempt. No editing is required before production.
Can I use a PDF file for embroidery?
No. PDF, JPG and PNG are artwork formats, not embroidery stitch files, and no embroidery machine can read them directly. Send us a PDF or any image and a digitizer converts it into a real stitch file such as DST or PES. Our free library already includes ready-made DST and PES files if you do not need a custom conversion.
Do you have free state flag embroidery designs?
Yes. Most of the free library is US state flag and crest patches, ready-sized for left chest, cap and jacket back placements. Browse the Flags category to see every state currently available. If your state or a specific flag isn't there yet, request it and we will add it to the free library or quote a custom digitizing order.
What if I need a custom design that is not in the free library?
Place a custom order starting from $15-$25 through our customer portal at customer.sassydigitizing.com. Upload your logo or artwork in any format including JPG, PNG, PDF, AI, or EPS.
